Anchorage’s Family Bike Shop for over 50 Years

Shop Spotlight:

Chris Wineck, our service department manager and head mechanic at our Northern Lights store, has been working for the Bicycle Shop since 1978–that’s 39 years. He started as a freshman in high school building bikes in the basement, and two years later, “graduated” to servicing bikes upstairs in our main service department. He enjoys the challenge of the bicycle industries constantly changing technology. He claims his favorite parts of the job are lunch and building wheels! He is a wealth of information and experience and is our go-to guy for the toughest jobs.

About The Bicycle Shop:

The Bicycle Shop was founded in 1964 and opened at the present location on Northern Lights Blvd. in 1974, which makes us the oldest and most experienced bicycle shop in Alaska. While we started as a Schwinn dealer in the 1960’s, throughout the years, we’ve had the pleasure and distinction of working with some of the biggest and best bicycle brands in the world.

Sure, we stock bikes and accessories from some of the most exciting bike companies, but we truly pride ourselves in having the skill and expertise to help you achieve your best possible cycling experience.

With over 50 years of experience serving our community, we have seen Anchorage change over the years. Bike stores have come and gone, but The Bicycle Shop continues to be Anchorage’s premier family shop, offering good old-fashioned customer service along with the best bicycles and accessories available.
